Wedding Flowers Planning Guide

Planning a wedding can be a full-time job. Before you start ordering wedding flowers, it helps to know exactly when you will need the flowers and what kind of flowers you will want. Once you know the parts of the wedding that require flowers, then you can start saving money by planning ahead.

1) The wedding party, including parents.

The bridal party will need flowers to carry and, of course, the bride’s bouquet will be the biggest of the group. You should have two bridal bouquets; the one she carries down the aisle and keeps, and another to throw at the ceremony. The groom and groom’s men get boutonnieres that should match the color of the bridal gowns. The mothers of the bride and groom get corsages, and the fathers get boutonnieres as well.

2) Flowers for the ceremony.

The flowers you will need for the ceremony depend on what kind of props you will be using. If there will be an arch, then you will need flowers over the arch. There should be flowers surrounding the area where the ceremony takes place, and flowers lining the aisle as well.

3) Flowers for the reception.

Many of the flowers at the ceremony get moved to the reception and placed near the cake and in front of the head table. But don’t forget floral arrangements for each table, and for the table where the guests sign in as well.

Planning ahead when putting together your wedding will save you money. Knowing when you will need flowers, means you won’t spend more than you need to spend.
